Liz Reinhardt began her career as an Assistant Attorney General in the Division of Public Charities. She has worked with nonprofit organizations, including nonprofit corporations, charitable trusts, and religious organizations, as a lawyer, regulator, advocate, consultant, educator and board member.  Her practice includes business, consumer, contract, employment, litigation, nonprofit mergers, dissolutions and acquisitions. She serves a number of her nonprofit clients as ‘out sourced’ in-house counsel.  A frequent public speaker, she consults in areas including the roles and responsibilities of board members, governance best practices, conflict of interest avoidance, executive compensation, fundraising and regulatory compliance.

Erin T. Cashman

Attorney Cashman is of counsel to the Firm. She has worked in the areas of trusts and estates, employment law, insurance litigation, business formation, and corporate law. Attorney Cashman works with nonprofit organizations in all of the above practice areas. In her probate and fiduciary litigation practice, she advises clients regarding trusts and bequests, and has successfully represented charitable beneficiaries in Probate Court proceedings involving will and trust interpretation issues, litigation regarding the removal of executors and trustees, and in the modification, termination, and enforcement of charitable trusts. In employment matters, she specializes in drafting handbooks, employment training, including sexual harassment training, advising clients on wage and hour issues, worker classifications, hirings, terminations, and discrimination claims. She also enjoys working with clients on the corporate side, in both the formation and dissolution of nonprofit organizations.

Attorney Cashman received her  B.A. from Bates College, cum laude, phi beta kappa, with honors in English, and her law degree from Boston College Law School.  Her professional experience includes tenure at the Boston law firm of Morrison, Mahoney and Miller as an associate, and as an associate at Catanzaro & Effron, where she specialized in estate planning and probate.  She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and Phi Beta Kappa.

Constance Castro

Attorney Castro has been Of Counsel with the Law Offices of Elizabeth S. Reinhardt and Associates, LLC since 2015.  Attorney Castro handles matters including nonprofit entity formation, contracts (such as IT service agreements, data-sharing agreements, and independent contractor agreements), state and federal regulatory compliance, lobbying compliance, website privacy policies, conflict of interest analyses, ethics advice, deviation petitions, and commercial tenancies. 

Attorney Castro has worked in both the public and private sectors in areas such as data security law (including the General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR), health law (including HIPAA compliance), trademark and copyright law, administrative law, immigration law, and wills and trusts. As a litigation attorney with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, she represented the Department in courts across the state, from Pittsfield to Barnstable. In her private practice, she has enjoyed working with a variety of clients including physicians engaged in “Direct Primary Care” medical practices and experts at the apex of their professional fields immigrating to the United States. 

Attorney Castro graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. She attended New England School of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List and earned an American Jurisprudence Award in Family Law. In 1994, she was admitted to the Massachusetts bar, followed by her admission to the First Circuit District Court and First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1995. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Machiko Sano Hewitt

Machiko Sano Hewitt is of counsel to the Firm. She handles formation of nonprofit entities and corporate governance matters including policies such as Conflict of Interest, Document Retention and Whistleblower Policies and MA data security policy and WISP (written information security program) under General Laws of Massachusetts Chapter 93H and 201 CMR 17.00.

Prior to joining the Firm, Attorney Hewitt was Nonprofit Assistance Director at Lawyers Clearinghouse for 15 years. In addition to connecting nonprofits which are unable to afford legal fees with pro bono lawyers and firms and giving counsel to nonprofits, Attorney Hewitt designed and organized educational programs and clinics for nonprofit organizations serving more than three hundred organizations a year, and handled a wide range of legal areas that affect nonprofit organizations.

Attorney Hewitt was a recipient of a prestigious Japanese government scholarship to study in the U.S. while at Hokkaido University School of Law. After graduation, she was selected to represent Japan for the North Pacific Rim Seminar organized by Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Harvard University involving countries in the region. She is also a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law. Before she attended law school in the U.S., she worked as a contract manager at an international pharmaco-economics company which specialized in cost-benefit analyses on new drugs on behalf of pharmaceutical companies seeking European and Canadian governments’ approval for their national healthcare systems.

Attorney Elizabeth Sullivan Khan joins our firm in our  employment law practice. She has experience representing both employees and management in administrative law forums such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, arbitration, Massachusetts Civil Service Commission and the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission.  

Ms. Khan started her career as a Labor and Employment attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Environmental Law Enforcement before working for the Commonwealth’s Human Resources Division Legal Department.  While in private practice she represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination cases as well as Family Law matters such as divorce, child custody and adoption.  Ms. Khan has experience in employment matters such as:  handbooks; discrimination, leave, confidentiality, privacy and other workplace policies and procedures; workforce transitions, hire letters, employment and separation agreements; wages and hours, employee vs. independent contractor worker classification, and workplace training.

Ms. Khan holds a juris doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, magna cum laude, from Regis College in Weston, MA.

Anita M. Raman

Attorney Anita Raman brings experience from both the public and private sectors. As a corporate litigator in New York City, she worked in areas of law including patent, accounting malpractice and copyright. She later served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey where she prosecuted white collar and violent crimes.

Anita graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a B.A. in History. She then attended Harvard Law School from which she graduated cum laude. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.

Michael R. Reinhardt

Attorney Michael Reinhardt has more than 30 years of litigation experience representing clients in criminal and civil matters. He has tried numerous cases in Superior Court and the District Courts and also appeared for Administrative Hearings before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and Dept. of Unemployment Assistance. Most recently, Michael worked as a Supervising Attorney for CPCS, the state public defender’s agency. In that capacity, he supervised teams of attorneys appearing in two of the busiest courts in Boston while also representing his own clients. Michael has also assisted with coaching high-school aged students competing in the Mass Bar Association’s Mock Trial competition.  

Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his law degree from Northeastern University.

Cecile Hanafin is a graduate of Skidmore College. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the heath care and human resource fields before receiving her Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Middlesex Community College.  In the spring of 2018, after working several years as a Paralegal at a family law firm in Boston, she joined the Law Offices of Elizabeth S. Reinhardt and Associates, LLC as Paralegal/Office Manager.
